The Southern Lit Alliance's Celebration of Southern Literature (CSL) and Special Literary Events bring hundreds of readers and writers together to celebrate literature in Chattanooga. During the CSL alone, the Southern Lit Alliance reaches over 10,000 students through its Education Enrichment programs—the Young Southern Student Writers, Writers in Classrooms and Creative Writing Workshops for Teachers.
Creative Writing Workshops for Teachers
Teachers work with award winning authors from the Fellowship of Southern Writers during this annual day-long workshop. Teachers and Faculty delve into exploring new ways of teaching creative writing and how to encourage students to read and write.
Who is eligible to participate?
• Language arts teachers or administrators from Hamilton County or surrounding area public schools
• Must work with students in grades 5-12
• Class size is limited to 50 teachers.
The Southern Lit Alliance (formerly the Arts & Education Council) celebrates Southern writers and readers through community education and innovative literary arts experiences. We do this through our programs, the Celebration of Southern Literature, Education Enrichment for children and through Special Literary Events.
With your help, we will continue these important learning opportunities for adults and children.
We sincerely appreciate your support. Thank you!
